The 5-day Druk Path Trek in Bhutan is one of the most scenic short treks in the country. Day 01: Arrival in Paro & Sightseeing

Altitude: 2,280 m

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport and meet your guide.
  • Transfer to hotel and settle in.
  • Visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), an ancient watchtower built in 1656.
  • Explore Rinpung Dzong, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
  • Evening visit to a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse.
  • Dinner and overnight in Paro.
Day 02: Paro – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Altitude: 2,280 m

  • Morning hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery (approx. 2 hrs).
  • Trail is part of the Bumdra trek; legend says Guru Rinpoche flew here on a tigress.
  • Afternoon visit to Drugyal Dzong (1647) and Kyichu Lhakhang (659 A.D.).
  • Evening free to explore Paro town.
  • Dinner and overnight in Paro.
Day 03: Paro – Geynekha – Jele Dzong (Start of Druk Path Trek)

Campsite Altitude: 3,560 m

  • Drive to Geynekha, passing Tamchog Monastery (15th century).
  • Trek through Bama and Chizhi villages to Jele Dzong.
  • Enjoy views of Paro Valley if weather permits.
  • Distance: 10 km | Walking time: 4–5 hrs | Ascent: 1,090 m
  • Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 04: Jele Dzong – Jangchulakha

Campsite Altitude: 3,770 m

  • Trek through alpine rhododendron forests with panoramic mountain views.
  • Distance: 10 km | Walking time: 3–4 hrs | Ascent: 310 m | Descent: 50 m
  • Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 05: Jangchulakha – Jimilangtso

Campsite Altitude: 3,870 m

  • Trek along the ridge with views of mountains and valleys.
  • Camp near Jimilangtso Lake.
  • Distance: 11 km | Walking time: 4 hrs | Ascent: 330 m | Descent: 230 m
  • Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 06: Jimilangtso – Simkota

Campsite Altitude: 4,110 m

  • Trek through dwarf rhododendron forests, passing Janetso Lake.
  • Distance: 11 km | Walking time: 4–5 hrs | Ascent: 820 m | Descent: 400 m
  • Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 07: Simkota – Phajoding – Thimphu (End of Trek)

Altitude: 2,640 m

  • Descend gradually to Phajoding Monastery, with views of Thimphu Valley.
  • Drive to Thimphu and rest at hotel after lunch.
  • Evening visit to Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and central monastic body.
  • Distance: 15 km | Walking time: 6–7 hrs | Ascent: 130 m | Descent: 1,820 m
  • Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.
Day 08: Thimphu Sightseeing

Altitude: 2,334 m

  • Visit National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma (51.5 m), Changangkha Lhakhang, Takin Preserve, Sangaygang Viewpoint, and Dupthop Lhakhang.
  • Lunch at Simply Bhutan Museum Restaurant.
  • Afternoon visit to Painting School (13 Arts & Crafts).
  • Evening free for shopping and photography.
  • Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.
Day 09: Thimphu – Punakha Sightseeing – Thimphu

Altitude: 1,242 m | Distance: 76 km | Drive: ~3 hrs

  • Drive to Punakha Valley, stopping at Dochula Pass (3,140 m) with 108 stupas.
  • Visit Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility) and Punakha Dzong (1637).
  • Hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten Monastery.
  • Return to Thimphu.
  • Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.
Day 10: Punakha – Wangdue Phodrang – Thimphu

Distance: 90 km | Drive: ~4 hrs

  • Walk across Punakha Suspension Bridge (160 m).
  • Drive via Wangdue Phodrang with views of the dzong (1638).
  • Visit Postal Museum and witness an archery match at Changlimithang Stadium.
  • Evening free for leisure and shopping.
  • Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.
Day 11: Thimphu – Paro (Departure)
