Day 1: Paro-Thimphu

  • Your adventure begins at Paro International Airport, where a local guide will escort you to your hotel in Thimphu, followed by a taste of Bhutanese cuisine.

  • National Memorial Chorten: Witness the elderly participating in the sacred circumambulation.
  • Folk Heritage Museum: Explore Bhutan’s rural past through household artefacts.

Day 2: Thimphu Tshechu

  • Experience the spiritual and cultural grandeur of Thimphu Tshechu on the second day of your tour.

  • At Dochula Pass, admire 108 chortens built by Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to honor Bhutan’s victory and the souls lost.
  • Visit Punakha Dzong, a 1637-built architectural marvel at the confluence of two rivers, serving as the clergy’s winter residence under the Je Khenpo.
  • See the unique Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, an exquisite chorten built over eight and a half years by Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck, with details inspired by religious scripture.

 

Day 4: Punakha to Gangtey

  • Journey to Gangtey to explore its rich tradition, beauty, and cultural heritage.
  • Walk through terraced fields in Sopsokha to reach Chhimi Lhakhang, a 15th-century temple built by Ngawang Chogyel after a small chorten was erected by Drukpa Kuenlay.
  • Discover Wangdue, the major town of Western Bhutan renowned for its bamboo, slate, and stone carvings.
  • Visit Wangdue Dzong, a fortress built in 1638, dramatically perched on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Tsang Chu and Dang Chu rivers.

 

Day 5: Gangtey to Paro

  • Travel from Gangtey to Paro and explore Bhutan’s medieval victories and heritage.
  • Visit Drukgyal Dzong, a 1647 fortress in ruins, commemorating great victories and offering views of Bhutan’s past.
  • Explore Ta Dzong, the National Museum since 1968, housing antiques, Thangka, textiles, and historical artifacts.
  • Discover the picturesque Paro Valley, home to ancient monasteries, temples, Bhutan’s only airport, and Mount Chomolhari (7,300m), with its glacier-fed river, Pachu.

 

Day 6: Paro

  • Your unforgettable Bhutan adventure is still not over because, on this day, you will gear up and challenge yourself on a spiritual day hike to famous monasteries.
  • Paro Dzong: Also known as Rinpung Dzong, this 15th-century massive fortress/monastery, is also the administrative centre of the Dzongkhag.
  • Taktsang Monastery: A one-hour hike to the cafeteria is also a vantage point where you can enjoy the stunning view of the monastery. Prayer flags adorn the cliffs, and this is also where Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tiger in the 8th century.
  • Duration: 5-7 hours depending on time taken in monasteries

Day 7: Depart from Paro

  • After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
